A profile link opens a creator's account; a post link opens one video or photo post. TikTok may also give you a short redirect when you share from the app. Use these patterns to tell them apart before you paste a link into another tool.

Copy a link on iPhone, Android or a computer
Start on the video or profile you want to share. The position of sharing controls can vary by app version. If you are copying your own profile, look for Share profile on your profile page; you can also build its URL from your exact @username using the checker above.

Privacy affects the recipient, not the clipboard. TikTok explains that public posts may be visible and shared on or off TikTok, while private accounts limit who can view their content. Turn the real @tiktok username into a profile URL

What the copied TikTok URL tells you
Read the domain and the part after it. A full post URL usually shows a handle and post ID. A short link hides that information until you open it. The examples below describe URL patterns, not a guarantee that the destination is still available.

TikTok distinguishes a unique username from the visible nickname and states that changing a username changes the profile link. When saving references, keep the URL and the date you checked it so you can spot an outdated handle later. Read the official username guidance .
Troubleshooting
Fix the copied link before repeating the whole process
Check what you pasted before copying again. A missing share action, an overwritten clipboard and an unavailable post need different fixes.
You cannot find Copy link
Review the actions in the share sheet. If you can open the same post in a browser, copy its address from the individual post page. For a profile, use the exact @username in the checker above.
You copied words, not a URL
Paste into a plain text field. If the result is only a caption, return to the destination and choose the action specifically labeled Copy link.
The link opens a feed or profile
Open the individual media page before copying. A video link normally contains a media segment and numeric ID; a profile path ends after the username.
The profile no longer resolves
Search for the current unique username. A creator can change that identifier, and TikTok says the associated profile link changes with it.
The recipient cannot view the post
Test in a signed-out browser only if appropriate. Privacy, age, region or removal can affect access; cleaning the URL cannot make restricted content public.
The URL contains a long query
Use the checker to keep the recognized profile or post path. Always open the result before deleting unfamiliar parts from an unsupported TikTok destination.
Your clipboard was overwritten
Copy again and paste immediately into the intended destination. A device clipboard holds the most recent copied item unless clipboard history is enabled.

The checker runs locally and does not look up the account
The checker reads the address in your browser, identifies its type and removes query text. You can paste a share message containing a link or just an @username. Your input is not sent to a lookup service. Checking a link does not open TikTok or confirm that an account or post exists.
Local processing also creates an honest limit: a vm or vt short URL can be recognized but not expanded here. Resolving it would require opening the redirect. The tool labels that state instead of inventing a creator or post ID. Likewise, a clean-looking URL can still lead to deleted, renamed, private or region-limited material.

Can I turn a short TikTok link into a full video URL?

Does copying a link download the TikTok video?
